WHAT SCHOOLING FOR ENFANTS PRODIGES?
Abstract
The role of pedagogical knowledge in music comes spectacularly to the fore in training courses for highly gifted children. We analyzed the theoretical assumptions and the organizational and educational
structures of ten special courses for gifted children. We also interviewed three pianists, by now young established professionals, with an educational track record characterized by precocity and clear talent. This study identifies the interactions between artistic-instrumental training and psycho-pedagogical strategies, opening up questions of enormous topical interest for Italian music institutions, intent for many years on standardizing the national music education system.
