Story of an autistic child and his relationship with music
by Anna Maria Bordin
Gabriele, an autistic and visually impaired child but with a great musical talent, is the protagonist of this story told fondly by his piano teacher who says that: The musical qualities of Gabriel are such that they would make happy any professor of piano: great rhythmic sense, absolute ear, harmonic sensibility, ability to reproduce melodies and small pieces on the keyboard, interest, curiosity, and musical memory. The book describes the “miracle” performed by music on this child, but also the efforts and patience of the author to find alternative pedagogical schemes able to overcome the handicaps of Gabriel.
